New digs

Check out our new digs!  We don’t even have to lug tables and chairs!

We had many new quilters to begin 2012.  They learned along with us how to use Thangles to make triangle squares.  We each made 2 blocks of donated fabrics.  We’ll sew these blocks into a quilt, machine quilt it and donate it to a local veteran’s home.

We also had some learning how to sew by making a 10 minute table runner.

10 Minute Table Runner

Here’s a picture of a 10 Minute runner that takes 20 minutes to make.  Barb R. will teach this project.  Stay tuned for a materials list.table runner

Finally as promised–pictures

The Santa Moon project picture.  Mardee began teaching us how to make this darling Santa

(or Halloween witch)during our last meeting.  We had about 12 members stitching away.

Can’t wait to see all the finished projects!

Quilt in Oct.1

7 avid quilters attended the Sew In on the first.  We have several photos of projects that were stitched by busy quilters.

You can also see photos of the 10 Minute table runner and the Santa Moon.  These 2 projects are on the schedule for

upcoming lessons.

NEW HAPPENINGS

October 1 is our all day sew in!  Make sure you join us for a day of fun and project completion.  Bring your UFOs or new projects you want to complete.  Sandy has promised us Subway platters for a make your own lunch.

We are so excited!  We have many new and exciting projects on the calendar.  First up is our Santa project (picture is coming).  We’ll let you know what you need soon.  Mardee’s in charge of this one.

Next up in November is a 10 Minute Table Runner.  Barbara will show us how to complete this in only 28 minutes!  (picture is coming)

In 2012 we will begin our Community Quilt for the new Veteran Home in town.  Denise will be teaching us how to use Thangles to create a quick but beautiful quilt.

New Stuff

Debbie's Quilt

Kaye's First Applique Quilt

What?
Trying to learn ragg ruggs.

I'm lost again.

The Stitchers have been quilting both at home and during meetings. We helped Debbie finish a quilt for her son. She hasn’t been feeling up to quilting. It’s a huge scrap quilt! Please check it out.

We also learned (at least we tried learning) how to make a ragg rugg with a toothbrush. You can see by the puzzled looks that we still have a bit to learn and need practice. I won’t repeat any of the interesting conversations overheard! Sandy did an excellent job attempting to teach us twisted stitchers.

Maverick Star Block

Special Olympics Charity Block

Our first charity quilt is in the works!

It was decided that we’d create a Maverick Star quilt for The Special Olympics.  We’re using fabric from Amy Butler’s Love line. Check out the photo of a block.  We’ll be finished in February and the raffle tickets will go on sale then.  The winning ticket will be drawn at the event in May.

Keep checking back to see a photo of the completed quilt!
